What is Laparoscopic Surgery?

It is a form of surgery to the abdomen or pelvic area wherein diagnostic and theerapeutic

procedure is performed through small incisions in contrast to open surgery. It uses specialized

equipment to visualize the internal organs and perform surgery with minimal trauma to the body

 

What are the Advantages?

Compared to open surgery, the advantages of Laparoscopic surgery includes, less pain;

shorter hospital stay and recovery time; early return to normal activity and work; and smaller scars.

 

What diseases can be managed by LAPAROSCOPY?

- Gallbladder stone

- Appendicitis

- Hernia

- Stomach, small and large intestine tumors

- Abdominal Cancer

- Diseases of the Uterus or Ovary

 

Who cannot undergo Laparoscopic Surgery?

- Patients who cannot tolerate General Anesthesia

- Bleeding disorders

- Pregnant Women

- Severe Heart and Lung disease

 

Will the cost differ from the open surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery is more expensive than open surgery. However,because the

shorter hospital stay, lesser need for pain relievers, faster recovery and early return to work,

the cost is practically the same as recovering from an open surgery
